Lucy and Greg’s wedding at Drumtochty Castle was one of those big, feel good days, full of people, full of energy, and properly centred around family.
Both of them got ready at the castle, which always gives the morning a nice rhythm. Lucy was in the Bridal Suite with her three sisters (all bridesmaids), while Greg was just down the hall in the Laird Room with his best man and groomsmen. It meant I could move between both rooms easily, catching the build-up on either side without missing anything.
Their ceremony was planned for the front of the castle if the weather behaved but sadly it didn't so we retreated to the cosy ballroom instead.. Lucy was walked down the aisle by her dad, Andrew, following her sisters and niece, which made for a brilliant, family-led entrance.
The ceremony itself felt warm and genuine, with Gregor Thurlow White leading it in that relaxed, natural way that suits the setting perfectly.
With around 110 guests, the atmosphere all day was lively without ever feeling chaotic. After the ceremony there was confetti outside, drinks flowing, and plenty of catching up before dinner was called at 4.15pm. Speeches followed, Lucy’s dad, then Greg, then Rowan, and struck a great balance between humour and proper sentiment.
As the evening kicked in, the cake was cut and the dancefloor opened not long after. With a band and a piper involved, it didn’t take much encouragement to get everyone moving.
Drumtochty is always a solid choice for a wedding like this, it handles bigger guest numbers effortlessly while still feeling personal. Lucy and Greg made the most of it, filling the place with the right people and letting the day unfold naturally.
