Lori and Graham were married at Aswanley on a brilliant September day, the kind where there’s just enough warmth left in the air but you can feel autumn starting to creep in.
The morning began in two different spots, with Lori getting ready in Dufftown and Graham over near Huntly. Both had that steady, happy build up, family around, a bit of excitement, and everything ticking along nicely ahead of a 1.30pm ceremony.
They were married at Aswanley, with Lori walking down the aisle with both her mum and dad. Led by Rachel Donald, the ceremony lasted around 45 minutes and felt relaxed and genuine, nothing overworked, just the right balance of humour and sentiment. Confetti followed outside, which always works well at Aswanley with that open space and countryside backdrop.
After drinks, guests were called in from 4pm, with speeches and champagne before dinner. Lori’s dad, Graham, and best man Chris kept things lively, a good mix of heartfelt moments and the kind of stories that only come out at weddings.
While we slipped away for couple and family photos, there was plenty happening back at the venue. Mini golf and cornhole kept guests entertained, which meant the atmosphere stayed upbeat rather than everyone waiting around. It’s always a good sign when guests are genuinely enjoying themselves in the in-between moments.
The evening had a bit of everything, cake cutting, first dance, sparklers, and later on fireworks lighting up the sky. Throw in a pizza van and a full dance floor and it had that proper party feel by the end of the night.
Aswanley suits this kind of wedding perfectly, relaxed but polished, with space to let the day unfold naturally. Lori and Graham filled it with the right people and let it become exactly what it needed to be.
A really solid autumn celebration from start to finish.
