Alexa and Wyman were married at The Barn at Barra in early August — one of those big summer weddings where the energy builds steadily from morning right through to the dancefloor.
They both got ready in the cottages on site, which always makes the morning feel contained and calm. Everything’s within walking distance, so there’s no rush, just that steady build-up as friends and family start arriving and the excitement creeps in.
Guests were seated and the ceremony started. Held outdoors on the lawn, it had that relaxed, open feel Barra does so well. Alexa was walked down the aisle by her dad, Sola, and with all the guests looking on, it felt full without ever feeling overwhelming. Confetti followed afterwards, always a good call at Barra with the space around the barn.
Family and community were a big part of the day. There were different groups travelling in, London friends, the Californian and Hawaii crew, extended family, and it had that brilliant mix of accents and energy that makes a wedding feel properly international. From “Ring Security” duties to a bridal party that blended siblings and close friends, it all felt very personal to them.
Dinner was called, with speeches woven through the meal. Alexa’s dad and the best man spoke before the starter, with Alexa and Wyman finishing things off later, a nice way to keep the momentum going rather than stacking everything at once. The cake was cut between courses, and by 7:30pm the first dance was underway, which shifted things naturally into party mode.
With a DJ, a piper earlier in the day, and a packed dance floor, it had that proper summer wedding feel, warm, busy and full of life from start to finish.
Barra handles that kind of celebration really well. Space to breathe outside, atmosphere inside, and enough room for guests to feel part of something without it becoming chaotic.
A brilliant August celebration with a genuinely great crowd.
